“Blooming Memories” addresses in layers of irregularly-shaped, triangular pieces that radiate outward from a reflective center of smaller mirror shards.
Art Statement
My name is Dawoon Jung. As a Contemporary artist, my work addresses all the emotions through various textures, colors, movements, directions and captured moments. When we shut our eyes, we view our memories in our mind, unobstructed by other people. After closing one eye to peer into a kaleidoscope, we are alone in our own world, just like with our own memories. For kaleidoscopes, the endless possibilities of blooming, reflected light allow for infinite patterns experienced by different viewers. These reflections illustrate how our feelings impact our own memories. Different feelings influence the abstract nature of our memories. Some memories are faint, some are cold or warm, and others are clearly reflected, versus lost in abstract.
