Sunflower

I began "Sunflower" during an artist residency at the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit in Minneapolis. Since Van Gogh was known for his love of sunflowers, I decided to paint a bouquet of my own. After arranging a few for my reference image, I removed one that was broken and slightly withered. I ended up liking the composition of this broken, lone sunflower more and wanted to give it a second chance at life with this portrait.
